We’re Santa’s special helpers.
Does Santa read braille? Of course, he does! And we help him out during this busy time of year by embossing his letters to kids.
Parents, teachers, and friends: There’s no cost to you. Just let us know who the letter is for and we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll even postmark the letter as shipped from the North Pole! We’ve made Santa’s words more accessible to people with visual disabilities by converting them to braille and including a large print copy.
Why letters from Santa?
We want to be on his Good List, of course! It’s also an opportunity for us to do something special for kids during the Christmas season. If you have kids of your own, you already know Christmas is magical and everyone deserves to feel that magic. We’d love to shatter the notion that only ‘seeing is believing’ and bring to life the idea that every child deserves a letter from Santa Claus. Everyone can feel the spirit of Christmas and, sometimes, it takes more than seeing to believe.
Here at Braille Works, we also understand the fun side of Christmas. Santa and his elves, flying reindeer, stockings hung by the chimney, and a host of other traditions. These are wondrous things that bring smiles and laughter to children around the world. In fulfilling our mission toward Making the world a more readable place™, we are honored to bring Santa Reads Braille to children who are blind or visually impaired.
A letter from Santa brings a little more of that Christmas wonder to your child. At the same time, a letter in braille is a great way to encourage and develop their braille reading skills.
We would love to hear from you so we can send your child a braille letter from Santa. We ask that only families who have a child who is blind or visually impaired take part. Teachers of students who read braille are also encouraged to submit requests.
“The best things in life cannot be seen or even touched,
they must be felt with the heart.” – Helen Keller
This is part of who we are.
Another reason we want to do this is that we see Santa Reads Braille as a way for us to express God’s love to you and your child in a tangible way.
Luke 2:10-11 “And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’”
Thank you for participating in Santa Reads Braille and have a blessed Christmas Season.

Ho, ho, ho!
I just finished checking my lists. Guess what I found? Your name is right here on the Nice List! That made me smile. I know how hard you have worked this year.
The elves are very busy building toys and wrapping gifts. Rudolph keeps sneaking cookies from the kitchen. He is very silly! The other reindeer are practicing their flying in the snow.
I am proud of how well you are learning to read braille. Keep up the good work! Practicing reading braille helps you grow strong in your heart and in your mind.
Do you know my favorite part of Christmas? It is not the presents or the sleigh rides. It is the joy of seeing children smile when they open their gifts. Your smile will make the whole world brighter this Christmas.
Christmas Eve is almost here. I cannot wait to leave a gift for you. Please remember to leave a snack for the reindeer.
With warmest wishes and a belly full of cookies,
Santa Claus

Merry Christmas,
The toy shop is glowing with shining lights. The smell of fresh cookies fills the room. The elves are hard at work making a happy beat, and the reindeer bells jingle like music. It is the most magical time of year.
I am very proud of you. You have worked hard in school and been kind to others. That is why your name is on the Nice List.
Do you know my favorite part of Christmas? It is not the toys or the sleigh rides. It is the joy I feel when families gather around their tree. Your smile will light up Christmas morning.
Keep reading braille, learning new things, and sharing your kindness with the world.
Merry Christmas,
Santa Claus
Letter #3
Greetings from the North Pole!
I want to tell you about one of my elves. Her name is Tabby.
Tabby reads braille just like you. She works in the toy shop and has lots of great ideas. Her guide dog, Snowflake, helps her get around the busy workshop. She is one of my best helpers.
Tabby told me she read a braille book about a penguin who wears boots. She laughed at how silly that penguin must look! Do you have a favorite book?
Tabby told me she is very proud of you. She knows how hard you work at reading braille. She said that you are learning so much, and that makes both of us very happy.
Tabby and I picked out a special gift for you. I cannot wait to leave it for you on Christmas Eve.
With warm wishes and a Ho, Ho, Ho!

Letter #4
Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas!
Today I saw Rudolph sneaking cookies from the kitchen. He left crumbs all over the floor and got icing all over his face. The elves laughed so hard that the bells on their clothes jingled. Rudolph is very silly!
The other reindeer are practicing their flying for the big night. Their hooves kick up little clouds of snow. It looks like glitter in the air.
I checked my list and saw your name on the Nice List. I am so proud of how you are learning in school and reading braille. Keep practicing every day. You are doing a wonderful job.
On Christmas Eve, remember to leave out a snack for the reindeer. They get hungry flying around the world.
Merry Christmas from the North Pole,
Santa Claus
