My State Has Not Expanded Medicaid; What Can I Do?
Attention Marketplace Providers, State Agencies and Providers….
As I started my journey into understanding the Affordable Care Act I found that much of the information is situational and there are many variables for a consumer to consider.
The first concern that I had were the many variables that needs to be considered when applying for coverage. The next concern was the amount of exemptions that are also situational. What became overwhelmingly clear was the need for all consumers to have equal access in a format that is most easy for them to understand. Especially since the liability of coverage is with the consumer.
I found my notes became more of a series of questions and finding the answers via Healthcare.gov. Between today and the January 31st deadline I will be sharing my process into better understanding the Marketplace, which allows consumers to comply with the Affordable Care Act. Please send your questions and comments to blog@brailleworks.com, I will do my best to provide you with the resource that best fits your questions.
Healthcare.gov will ask you to enter your ZIP code and will show you the options that are available in your state.
Open Enrollment began November 1, 2015 and continues through January 31, 2016.
There are specific exemptions from fees, find out if you qualify for an exemption here. There are also exemptions from healthcare, healthcare fees and other exemptions.
If your state has not expanded the Medicaid program there are other options through local clinics. If you cannot obtain coverage you may qualify for an exemption.
I welcome more questions regarding The Affordable Care Act and I hope these quick links assist you in finding the answers you need.
